Dr. Basu is very knowledgeable and clearly has a thoughtful and methodical approach in her care plan. She has a very calming and reassuring presence which was critical for my personal situation. Her tele-visits are convenient and have a sense of intimacy that I did not think I would have felt given the nature of the type of visit. I highly recommend Dr. Basu, she has been wonderful.

I have a close family member that needed psychiatric care. Never having to deal with this in the past; this was uncharted territory for our family. I reached out to Dr. Basu not knowing exactly what our family member needed for help. Dr. Basu was extremely kind, knowledgeable and understanding when handling our family member’s medical situation. Tushar, Dr. Basu’s Medical Assistant, was very helpful with the new patient on-boarding process. Tushar was always available for questions and made it very easy to schedule our first appointment with Dr. Basu. Our family has been through a lot but I feel incredibly supported by Dr. Basu and her team. I am very grateful to Dr. Basu. I am also confident that Dr. Basu will provide the highest level of care to ensure that my family member achieves the best possible outcome.

Services and Telepsychiatry

Providing Telepsychiatry and Psychopharmacology to Children Over 13, Young Adults, Adults, and Senior Citizens

Education about medication and treatment options to help you make an informed decision.

Coordination of care with members of your treatment team.

What You Can Expect

Your health and well-being are important. Therefore, appointments are promptly available.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative process that begins with our first meeting. In this time, I will listen as you educate me about the unique aspects of your personality, life history, thoughts, awareness, and emotions that brought you to this point. I rely on a combination of evidence based medicine and understanding of who you are to determine a diagnosis and initiate the best treatment plan for you.

Not everyone requires psychopharmacology. Our rapport plays an instrumental role in the healing process. It is important for me to empathize with you as well as gain an appreciation of what you identify to be your difficulty. My respectful approach encourages a dialogue about my recommendations which are based on your symptoms and lifestyle.

Our appointments are based on humanity, compassion and science. I will summarize your diagnosis, treatment plan and objectives and explain possible side effects or drug interactions. Furthermore, I recognize the value of cultural diversity and similarities; differences in gender, race, age, sex, ethnicity, education, country of origin, and language.

My goal is to build a bond with you and be a valued member of your healing team. To empower your journey to optimum wellness, I will actively listen to you, ask insightful questions, and continue to assess your symptoms within a confidential nurturing environment.

About

I am a humanistic, compassionate board certified psychiatrist experienced in treating adults of all ages for anxiety disorders, depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, postpartum depression, and seasonal affective disorder (SAD). I believe the human connection is an essential part of the therapeutic plan. I offer a calm, nonjudgmental environment where individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs can relax and discuss their difficulties.

Born in Delhi, India, I received my medical degree and training from the Institute of Medicine in Kathmandu, Nepal. I was a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation scholar (SAARC) and completed a psychiatric residency program at North Shore Long Island Jewish Hospital. An externship in psychiatry confirmed my interest in the field.
